All the nations rise...

We were so blessed by the Hillsong Conference 2006 in Sydney. It was an awesome week of exuberant celebration and explosive worship as the greater body of Christ gathered together to champion the cause of the church of God and be a blessing to one another. We witnessed the power of unity as praise and worship is offered to God in one voice, one heart and one accord.

It was also an exceptional privilege to hear and receive the word of God from spiritual leaders like Rick Warren, Bill Hybels and Reinhard Bonnke. God enlarged the territories of our hearts and minds and challenged us to love Him more.

In about two weeks' time, it will be an honour for FCBC to host the 2nd Gateway Cities Youth Convention. Let's flow with the wonderful plan of God to see the nations blessed. Each one of us can do our part to pray, participate and support this convention. As we unite in spirit and purpose to serve the nations who are neighbours to Singapore, God's glory will be seen as the name of Jesus is lifted up!

A Mother's Legacy

We're introduced to them through only one verse in the Bible but their names have been raised up as examples of godly and faithful mothers. In 2 Timothy 1:5, Paul wrote to Timothy appreciating his "sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother, Lois and in your mother, Eunice and, I am persuaded now lives in you also. " Lois and Eunice must have prayed much for young Timothy, taught him God's word from young and guided and counselled him through his growing years. They must have modelled for him a life of love and devotion which inspired and attracted Timothy to follow. Timothy did become an outstanding leader and someone whom Paul was proud to call his "true son in the faith ".
What a legacy to leave behind !
Parents have a priestly role and anointing in the family. We can mark our children's lives and future with our prayers and declarations of God's Word and promises over them.
What is the joy of every mother ? Isn't it to have her children arise and call her blessed because of the legacy of godliness and faith she has deposited in them which prepares them for success in life ?

SURPRISED BY LOVE

All of us can do with nice little surprises now and then. They're little“splashes of joy in the cesspools of life”. They break the routine of daily living and add the colours and textures in the tapestry of our lives.

Our God is a God who loves surprises too! He surprises us daily with His love. The way that He loves is always creative, tailored just for you. The Bible says the steadfast love of the Lord never cease... they are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness (Lam 3:22-23)

Let's continue to celebrate the surprises of God in our lives. You can be a part of the surprise too! Why not surprise somebody today with a touch of God's love.

7000 Smiles Challenge

YouthNet, let us join in the “7000 Smiles Challenge” and make it a success.

Do you know?
One of our YouthNet tribes started a “7000 Smiles Challenge” a few weeks ago.

What's it about?
They earn a smile and capture it on digital cameras by serving Singaporeans through helping, giving small gifts and encouragements etc. This challenge is also used to publicise our weekly Youth Service at The MAX Pavilion. We have more than 1300 smiles so far. (see: http://7000smiles.xlynk.org/ )

Guess what?
Last Sunday, Singapore launched a “4 million smiles” project to welcome the International Monetary Fund (IMF) VIP delegates. The organisers heard about our challenge and plan to make a news story from it.

Let's join in!

1. Earn smiles through deeds of kindness. Give them the card's tear out piece with the Youth Service info to invite the person to the ‘Miracle Weekend’.

2. Take a digital picture with them and upload it to http://7000smiles.xlynk.org/ under "YouthNet Album".

3. Inform the person that his/her smile will be sent to the “Singapore 4 million smiles" project.

It is at the Youth Service and the Encounter Weekend that Carol and Samuel had a special encounter with Jesus and their lives changed. Testimonies like these inspire us to keep bringing our friends to service and the Encounter, so they too, will know and believe Jesus.

God Pleasers ...

Have you ever had one of those days when you feel like God is smiling on you ... that He's pleased with you?

When was that? Did you know why?

Pleasing God more and more (Thess 4:1) ...hope this has been on your thoughts especially since Ps Eugene brought this call to us last week.

As parents, we know when our children please us. Most of the time, it's when they're walking rightly with God and others, enjoying healthy relationships in the family, looking forward to each new day and the future ahead of them.

In the Bible, we have God pleasers like Enoch who "walked with God" and Noah who "was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God" .

Man was made to bring God pleasure. We find ourselves when we live to please God. Make it your goal to pursue Holiness which is God in us, Harmony which is love in action and Hope which is the Holy Spirit in control.

We definitely RESTED at the EJ288 Re-Encounter last week....

Unbelievable? Especially since the theme was TRAINING? Yes, we were up for one hour prayer at 6am and another hour in solitude and packed in a full day programme.

We ran all over Malacca town for a structured experience in which we discovered more than what eye could see! It was a special Encounter with God and ourselves in the unique design with which He has made us male and female. We had the Expected as well as the Unexpected!

Do you need a little rest? Jesus says, “Come unto me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." ( Matt. 11:28 )

Centre of the Bible!

I was at the centre of the Bible! My morning devotion took me to Psalm 118. Interesting that this Psalm comes between the shortest Psalm ( Psalm 117 ) and the longest Psalm ( Psalm 119 ) and that it is the centre chapter of the whole Bible. Right there in verses 8 and 9, we are given the key to being in the centre of God's will for our lives. It says:

"It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.
It is better to take refuge in God than to trust in princes."

To trust in man is to trust in your own or man's abilities, efforts, resources and cleverness in getting things done. To trust in princes is to rely on who you know and who he is rather than Whose you are and Who He is!

Try testing yourself in one day to see how much trust you put "in man" and "in princes". I tried and I know I need to return again to placing God in the centre of my life and consciously releasing everything and every person I'm leaning on for support in order to be totally dependent on God, my Source and my Provider.

Pray n Pray n Pray !

To live by faith requires an active dynamic prayer life. There’s no other way to lift ourselves out of the realm of the natural and into the supernatural life. Prayer engages the powers of Heaven and releases God’s blessings to aid us in our human efforts.

One of the signs of maturity is when our prayers are transformed from praying in general terms to specific prayer. A good way to see this happen is to pray the 3x3 model of prayer which is taught to us for starting a new cell. Three of you come together and share 3 names of pre-believing friends. Commit yourselves to pray daily for 30 days for each of these friends, praying specific targeted prayers with understanding of the person’s needs and the blockages that are preventing him or her from receiving the Word of God. Ask the Holy Spirit to open a door of opportunity for you to share the Good News of the Gospel and see the person come to salvation. Your persistent and believing prayer will release life, hope and the seed of faith into the person’s life and you will experience the miracle of salvation before long!

Baby Boom

It was quite a sight!

The Consolidation Room was packed, every seat taken and more chairs had to be brought in for all the new believers and their many “family members and relatives“. It was like a scene from a delivery room when the doctor has just announced the arrival of the newborn. Except last Easter Sunday, we rejoiced over the multiplication of new babies in the Lord!

Newborns always bring joy to the family. Sure, we’ll have to fuss over them, pay a little more attention to them and ensure they are on the road to healthy growth. But you know what? As we help the new believers to grow, we will all grow as a result, because nothing hastens and motivates our growth more than when we have to lead, teach and father and mother a young one.

We are entering an exciting phase of growth in this season of our faith walk with God. We are trusting God for more to be added to the family every week as Miracle weekend draws near.
Let’s all commit ourselves to see extraordinary growth in and through us!

“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. “ Ephesians 1:3

"One Solitary Life" by James A Francis

He was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in still another village, where He worked in a carpenter's shop until He was thirty. Then for three years He was an itinerant preacher. He never wrote a book, never held an office, never had a family or owned a house. He didn't go to college. He never visited a big city. He never travelled 200 miles from the place He was born. He did none of the things one usually associates with greatness. He had no credentials but Himself.

He was only 33 when the tide of public opinion turned against Him. His friends ran away. He was turned over to His enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While He was dying, His executioners gambled for His clothing, the only property He had on earth. When He was dead, He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend.

Twenty centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race and the leader of mankind's progress. All the armies that ever marched, all the navies that ever sailed, all the parliaments that ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned have not affected the life of man on earth as much as that ONE SOLITARY LIFE.

The Revelation of the Cross

Good Friday and Easter are round the corner. TGIF fever is on. Many are taking the opportunity to invite unsaved family and friends to one of the many harvest events organised by your tribe or cell. What a wonderful privilege to share with them the Greatest Story Ever Told and present to them the Greatest Gift they will ever receive. But in the busyness of organising the event and inviting friends, I hope you will take time to reflect on what the death of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary has done for you personally and what His Resurrection means for you. Jesus died for the world but He died for you and me.

No one can fully understand the suffering of Christ unless God reveals it to us. When we experience the revelation of the Cross, it will bring us to a deeper level of faith and obedience. As I write this , the Lord brought to mind a passage of Scripture I've memorised but never fully comprehend,

"I want to know Christ and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in His sufferings, becoming like Him in His death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead." ( Phil 3:10,11 )

Thank you Lord ! I know where you are leading me to !

02-Apr-06 Super Conquerors

One of my favourite verses in the Bible is Romans 8:37, "No, in all these things (trouble, hardship, persecution, famine, danger and all the things that threatens to turn your heart cold and hard) we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."

Don't know Greek nor Latin but understand that translated, we are not just conquerors but "hyper-conquerors" and "super-conquerors". Don't you like that? Too many Christians' devotion for God can be measured against their feeling of being blessed. When everything's well and going our way, it's easy to love Jesus. But the true test of devotion comes on days when we feel lousy, far away from God, unloved by people and angry with the world. That's the time when we need to know... nothing can separate us from God's love nor should anything separate our love from God. You can conquer anything and everything "through Him who loved us"

It is not by any strength or ability in ourselves but it is God's presence and power within us which enables us to rise up to a supernatural level of conquest.

So if you're feeling overwhelmed by the pressures and demands of studies, work, deadlines and even the "Christian things" like leading cell and finding the 12, believe and receive this precious promise of God for yourself this week.

Miracles Waiting To Happen

The G12 Conference stirred up a great desire in us to see miracles (remember Extraordinary Possibilities?) in our life, our family, our ministry and in the nations we are called to serve. What does it take to see miracles?

Expect it. Do you really believe? "If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer." ( Matt 21:22 ) Faith is the opposite of fear. And Faith is the first word in our church name, FCBC. We are to be a faith community of believers.

Pray and host the Holy Spirit in your life. Confess the Word of God.
Then you can ask boldly for miracles and see it happen.

The church is moving in faith to plan for the first ‘Miracle Catch’ in June. 12 in three months? Do you believe you can invite 12 friends to this Miracle Catch? You can start by inviting them to cell or to church between now and June. Find the chance to share the gospel with them and pray that they will respond to God's love and the call for salvation at the Miracle Catch or even before that! I like what Frank Damazio wrote in his book, Miracles:

"We must put a demand on our faith and a demand on the anointing. We must contend for miracles. "

Week Of Many Blessings

Although the International G12 Conference started only on Thursday night, we felt the flow of God's blessings for the whole week. Open doors, answered prayers, nice surprises, rest in the midst of busyness. We have a God who wants to bless us, every moment of every day. And blessed we were too, abundantly and exceedingly, by the powerful impartation, teaching and ministry from our spiritual elders at the Conference.
We are sure the flow of blessings will continue far beyond the Conference itself.

What a privilege it is for FCBC to host this awesome assembling together of the family of believers. God's presence was strongly manifested as He promises, whenever we gather together in His Name.

Remember the 3 areas of focus we had set for YouthNet in 2006? We see it all at the Conference!

The Gathering, the Training and the Sending.

Need A "Faith" Lift?
We believe many of us have acted on the 7000 Faith Challenge.

An exciting testimony to share ... last week, two tribes invited more than 50 visitors to church between them.

Guess what? Twelve of them gave their lives to Jesus!

Hallelujah! Doesn't that give us a faith lift?

Faith must be exercised for it to grow. Any work done in faith will be productive. But let's face it... it's not easy inviting people to church. So many reasons why we cannot invite or why they cannot come. We invited four friends, three of whom turned us down.

What will motivate us to go the extra mile and keep on trying?

Love - pure and simple. Love for God and love for people. So let's not give up ... for in due season we shall reap a harvest of blessings if we faint not (Gal 6:9).

Start registering for the International G12 Conference in March from this Sunday (5 Feb) !

Good news for all school-going youths in FCBC! There is now a new rate for you!
For youths studying full-time: $25 per person

For adults & NS Full-time personnel: $35 per person
(Children 12 years and under accompanying parents will be free of charge.)

These rates are valid for FCBC members / cell members.

Fee includes Conference handbook, name tag, tea-breaks, lunch and dinner on 17 and 18 March (Fri & Sat) respectively.

**Students with NO tickets will NOT be allowed to board the bus.**

Purchase your one-way $1 TCT-Expo ticket at the Service Counter in Hall 9 for February. There will be a 12.45pm bus to send you to Expo for the Youth Service. (CSC 5 Jan).
c) For Trainers:
“Please finish your class five minutes before 12noon. BECAUSE among your good students, some have duties to perform in Expo. To bring them there, we have a bus waiting for them at TCT. Time and Bus wait for no man nor, your good student. It will leave on time, ie. 12noon.

“You need not keep the projectors. Just dash down with your good students to take the bus if you have no better transport options and have to be in Expo before 12.30pm.
